Torso – Inside

Origin: Austria
Year: 2012
Genre: Psychedelic / Stoner rock
Tracks: 7
Label: StoneFree Records
Torso is a quartet from Austria, their music is  influenced by 70’s music,  don’t know much about them but i’ve been playing this record a few times and i can only say you should give a listen if you like stoner rock with psychedelic trips, it turns interesting when they go more psych. I can’t say they sound similar to other bands, just listen and start well your trip. Recommended.

Kadavar – S/T

Origin: Germany
Year: 2012
Genre: Doom | Stoner Rock
Tracks: 6
Label: This Charming Man Records | Tee Pee Records

Kadavar is a three piece band from Berlin, Germany, the vintage look and the cover artwork seems interesting, you know is not going to be something new and probably you think is another copy of Black Sabbath… but like their record label says (“You can’t reinvent the wheel, but you can roll it”) . So, if you are into Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Hawking, give them a listen. Recommended.

After 3 years from their debut album, they come again with a mature sound and you can hear it. I really love how this record has turned, if you like what they did with their debut album, man, you gonna love this…i don’t know what to expect this year, i mean…first was Earth, Lento, Blood Ceremony and more records i’ve say they are the best stuff from 2011, anyway, this is the last year of human race, right? lol. Speaking about the record, man, the whole record is like a punch with a hammer in your head with a pretty bad hangover…imagine that, you’ll need to be so fucking dope to support that punch. It’s amazing what this girl does with his flaute and that old synth, last but least to mention is how well writed are this songs…fuck, the final of the record is just gorgeous. If you don’t know anything about this band, download this and discover how good it is, you don’t need to know if they sound similar to this or that. Highly Recommended.

Debut 7″ from this Winconsin’s sludge sensation. Romero is a three piece band and what they do is a mix of Stoner Rock with some heavy movements taken from Sludge. If you like Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Torche, Baroness…you’ll really dig this tunes. I hope soon they release something else, because, with these two tracks they just let you know who they are. I definitly recommend you this two tracks and if you smoke, make you a favor and smoke a bowl while you hear this…enjoy the trip! High-ly Recommended.

Bridge Farmers – Din of Celestial Birds

Origin: United States
Year: 2010
Genre: Blues|Psychodelic|Sludge|Stoner Rock
Label: Self Released

Bridge Farmers play sludgy, psychedelic blues metal (that’s a mouthful I know) … imagine something like Muddy Waters sitting in with Mastodon?
“Din of Celestial Birds” is 6 songs of reverb-heavy Southern metal recorded at Frenchie Smith’s The Bubble studio.

Bridge Farmers came together when our heroes where first drawn to a distant light in the desert. They followed this light for days and then it stopped and hung in the air over a abandoned spaceship. Not knowing what to do, they looked up towards the light and then it lit up the sky and knocked our heroes into a state of slumber. When they awoke they began to play rock-n-roll and spread their love of music throughout the land…….and they hope to see you along this journey. ..

I’ll throw in my 2 cents and say that this band has a bit of a softer side but not to much. Don’t expect to much sludge, you get some but you get more psychedelic blues metal then anything. The 6 track EP, which can be streamed in its entirety over at Bandcamp, is pretty damn impressive and makes me wish I had the money to travel to Texas to catch these guys live. Stream it then buy it, it’s a keeper[The Soda Soup]. Recommended.

I get into this band thanks to a random guy who post me this on lastfm like a month ago, thank god he did it, this is what you are looking for…something really unique and fresh who comes to kick your nuts. Pile incorporates many styles to create this gem, going from post-punk/indie sound to a downer stoner rock to trip out, but, their mainly sound is post-hardcore. “Magic Isn’t Real” is for sure something you will keep in your head for a long time, it’s pretty damn catchy. So, don’t waste your time looking for something new…IT’S IN YOUR FACE RIGHT NOW. I think the drummer comes from This Flood Covers The Earth. Highly Recommended.
