Altamente recomendado.
Released by MusicFearSatan on March 22, it comes in clear purple with red and blue streaks with an amazing cover art done by Benjamin Moreau (HUATA).
The split starts with the side of Huata, a french band that have a few years in the doom scene but lately has been more known thanks to their first full length ¨Atavist of Mann¨ released over a year ago. They contribute two new songs in the same line of occult stoner / doom metal with higher doses of psychedelics, the band has gain skills to write more creative songs thanks to their live rituals. I´m thinking this is the best exposure of the band so far, if you believe Atavist of Mann was all they can give, that was only the beginning.
In the other side is Bitchot from the southern lowlands, a six-piece band that released their debut album ¨Toybox¨ 4 years ago and since then Bitcho haven´t do any new recordings. If you are new to this band, i´m pretty sure you’ll become a fan of them easily, Drone/Doom Metal very repetitive and loud with psychedelic sounds, voice effects included, all together sounds superb and they can be compared with bands like Cough or Windhand.
Props to the label for put this two bands in the same record and congrats to the bands.

Second ep by the German band Aleph Null, if you haven´t check this band yet, is time to get into their music. These guys play something between doom and sludge filled with psychedelic riffs, if you are looking for something fresh in the doom/sludge community you should give a proper listen to this record. Contains four new tracks and you can get it for free through their bandcamp, don’t know if its going to be released physical, that would be great but they still unsigned, so if you run a label you should sign this band, once you hear this you’ll understand why i’m saying this.Highly recommended.

Found this dutch band today, they come from the southern lowlands and here its their debut album released three years ago and re-released on this year. Nothing new to discover, it´s the same drone sound heavy influenced by doom/psychedelic, creating an atmosphere of torture with this obscure sound. The record is very complete and well executed, it has voice effect, three bass guitars, yes three fucking bass guitars with tons of effects, its hypnotic, monotonous and full of feedback’s. The album is up on bandcamp to stream or buy. For fans of Ufommamut, Conan, Cough or even Om, a must have for those who are seeking for high quality music. Highly recommended.

I came to this record before going to work, an interesting new band coming from Moscow, Russia.

S:t Erik comes from Uppsala, Sweden, a five pice band playing psychedelic/stoner doom since 2006. To be honest this is the first time i listen to the band and i was surprised by the great quality of music, ¨From Under The Tarn¨ it´s their first full lengt and this can be some of the best full lenghts of doom, even though there´s a long list of albums that was released this year, this can fight a place in the top 10. Their music is pretty catchy, creating cosmic atmospheres, violent head-banging and overall heavy riffages, an album you can´t let go if you like bands like Acid King, Om, Ufommamut or Electric Wizard. Highly recommended.
Genre: Doom | Psychedelic | Sludge metal
This is the first Ep by Church of Wolves, “Kentucky Fried Jesus” has only three songs, playing crushing doom/sludge metal, it sounds really dark all the negative riffs played, they also lands into atmospheric sounds, throwing psychedelia in the minimalist sound, a record you shouldn’t let go if you are fan of the genre. I would like to see this on vinyl or cd, it deserves a physical release, until that happens, the band has upload the complete ep and can be downloaded as pay what you want. Highly recommended

Shogun Assassins is a rock trio from Copenhagen, DK. The musical style draws on inspiration from the 60s and 70s. Psychedelic vibes and groovy tunes.

The debut EP ‘Caveman’ was released in 2010. In 2012 a new release was recorded with producer Johan Lei Gellett (Baby Woodrose, The Good The Bad, Kira and the Kindred Spirits etc.). Nomega is formed in Timisoara, Romania, about a year and half ago and this is are their first recordings. It’s actually a live-in-the-studio demo, it contains long tracks, from 7 mints to 22 mints, a complete ritual you need to do. Spoken words and psychedelic riffs all around, can’t wait for hear more from this band. Recommended.[Band request]

Torso is a quartet from Austria, their music is influenced by 70’s music, don’t know much about them but i’ve been playing this record a few times and i can only say you should give a listen if you like stoner rock with psychedelic trips, it turns interesting when they go more psych. I can’t say they sound similar to other bands, just listen and start well your trip. Recommended.

“Half Blood is an album that gets more rewarding with every listen. Miller has hidden plenty of noises and outher aural gems for listeners to discover upon repeat listens, and this is a record that you will want to come back to time and time again. It’s a milestone for Jenks Miller, after all his experimenting and collaborating he has come back with a full length that is a genuine adventure, and a record that tells a story from start to finish. I always look forward to new Horseback material, and after hearing Half Blood I know the music will only continue to grow and change, and that experimentation is met with reward.” Cvlt Nation. Aquanaut hails from Vancouver, Canada, this guys are playing doom/stoner metal with a psychedelic sound, the four tracks on “Sunken Ark” clock around 45 mints, the recordings sounds a bit lo-fi, but you get an idea of what they are doing. This is their own description “Emerging from the briny depths of the Atlantic Ocean, Aquanaut burst forth from the water, a juggernaut. Simultaneously fast and slow, sludgy and sleek, Aquanaut is a new kind of force. With one goal in mind, the warrior turns south and begins its final journey; to sink Australia.” . Listen to “Sunken Ark” and “Bong Water River” while you burn one. Recommended.

Iron Mtn, a band from Los Angeles you should check out. These guys have played already with 16, Black Cobra, Zoroaster… just to name a few, don’t know why they released something before but this self titled ep is something you should play after work, during the smoke session. The 4 tracks starts downtuned/stoner/psychedelic and it ends the same, it’s an instrumental band and i don’t care about that, vocals are no needed. For fans of Electric Wizard, Black Sabbath, Cough or Zoroaster., highly recommended, headbanging in slow motion.
You can download this for free at their bandcamp, but remember this, hand numbered limit edition of 100 copies only , act fast.

For those who are unfamiliar with Ancient Sky, this band comes from Brooklyn, NY with ex-members of Meneguar, Woods, Verse En Coma, Majority Rule, Darkest Hours, Ghastly City Sleep and Little Gold, enough past bands to know the quality of music they can create, but this is not something in the line of their past bands, they do psychedelic music. “T.R.I.P.S.” is the new album by these guys, their past self titled album sounded more stoner rock/psychedelic, on this new album the band has created music more psychedelic oriented, love how their trippy riffs give you the same vibes from the 70’s, just listen “Oake Island” and you’ll know what i try to describe. Get your hands on this beauty, it has been released on vinyl and tape, just 300 copies of the lp, 200 are black and 100 iced cherry (clear with cherry red splatter) and the tape is limited to 100 copies. Highly recommended. [Label request]

After their brutal demo, they come back with this new album, the album contains the 2 tracks from the demo, and the new songs are in the same line, sounds sick, heavy as shit. Wish i can see them live one day and feel that fucking hate from their amps. Highly Recommended.

To many bands have “Witch” or “Mountain” in their names, but what does the difference is the sound of each band, Mountain Witch comes from Hamburg, Germany and sounds like a band is getting pretty stoned and creating psyched jams. The band was created by René Sitte (guitar) and René Roggmann (drums, vocals) in 2008, then Tobert Knopp (bass) was added to the band, they say their is to create music that is rooted in stoned and doom music from the past and present with psychedelic elements, fuck, you want it more clear? just listen and smoke. Give a listen if you haven’t heard them. Highly Recommended.

For those who don’t know The Atlas Moth, they are a band based in Chicago, IL formed by five dudes. The first thing i listen about this band was their album from 2009 titled ” A Glorified Piece Of Blue Sky”, after two years, they release another album but i saw they released a ep the past year, but i haven’t listen it. “An Ache For The Distance” i think is the best recorded material to date, i know their 2009 album have killer tunes, but this new album sounds sick. Highly Recommended.

Another great record released this year, i have much more newer stuff to post but sometimes it’s hard to keep posting when your work gets almost all your day time, anyway, for those who doesn’t know Elder yet, this is not the philly band. Elder is a three piece band from Boston, MA, they play a great style of Stoner Doom/Metal with the same feeling of the psychedelic bands from the 70’s… no doubt this is going to my top albums. This is much more from what i expected from these guys, after three years of silence they come back with a mature sound,10/10 for sure, Highly Recommended.

Doom time!, Omean are formed by 5 metal heads and they hail from NOLA scene, this is their first ep. It’s like the six time i listen the ep and i can’t write something worth it for the band, but fuck it, i don’t make reviews, just recommendations, from the beginning to the end they keep the same atmosphere, sometimes turns more into a psychedelic doom but definitely sounds sick. If you are looking for some crushing/heavy doom you have to give this a listen. It’s a shame not many people knows about this band. For fans of Salome, Haarp. Black Sheep Wall, Northless or even Neurosis, just to name a few. Highly Recommended [more enjoyable with a swisher]

It’s time to get stoned! i have days i don’t post anything like this, but this time i come with a 2 track demo from these satan creatures from Virginia…if you think you’ve got pretty stoned, you should listen this demo and think about it twice. Slowly and psychedelic doom with the sings of a girl floating like waves in a dark room full of depression and hate. Tunes to smoke your fat joint in your own cave. Fans of Stonehelm, Cough, Blood Ceremony or Devil’s Bood should give this a listen. Highly Recommended.

After 3 years from their debut album, they come again with a mature sound and you can hear it. I really love how this record has turned, if you like what they did with their debut album, man, you gonna love this…i don’t know what to expect this year, i mean…first was Earth, Lento, Blood Ceremony and more records i’ve say they are the best stuff from 2011, anyway, this is the last year of human race, right? lol. Speaking about the record, man, the whole record is like a punch with a hammer in your head with a pretty bad hangover…imagine that, you’ll need to be so fucking dope to support that punch. It’s amazing what this girl does with his flaute and that old synth, last but least to mention is how well writed are this songs…fuck, the final of the record is just gorgeous. If you don’t know anything about this band, download this and discover how good it is, you don’t need to know if they sound similar to this or that. Highly Recommended.

Bridge Farmers play sludgy, psychedelic blues metal (that’s a mouthful I know) … imagine something like Muddy Waters sitting in with Mastodon?
“Din of Celestial Birds” is 6 songs of reverb-heavy Southern metal recorded at Frenchie Smith’s The Bubble studio.
Bridge Farmers came together when our heroes where first drawn to a distant light in the desert. They followed this light for days and then it stopped and hung in the air over a abandoned spaceship. Not knowing what to do, they looked up towards the light and then it lit up the sky and knocked our heroes into a state of slumber. When they awoke they began to play rock-n-roll and spread their love of music throughout the land…….and they hope to see you along this journey. ..
I’ll throw in my 2 cents and say that this band has a bit of a softer side but not to much. Don’t expect to much sludge, you get some but you get more psychedelic blues metal then anything. The 6 track EP, which can be streamed in its entirety over at Bandcamp, is pretty damn impressive and makes me wish I had the money to travel to Texas to catch these guys live. Stream it then buy it, it’s a keeper[The Soda Soup]. Recommended.
