Para fans de State of Fear, Doom o Disrupt.

image

Negative Standards / Whitehorse split review

Altamente recomendado.

Northless – World Keeps Sinking

Duck, Little Brother, Duck! – No Spitting On Cats During Plague Time

Depravation – II: MALEDICTVM

Depravation’s first full length was released the past month by Life And Death Records, Dark Omen Records and Sälly Records, a vinyl edition limited to 500 pieces, 100 white and the rest on black. This german band has gain popularity by playing lots of shows and obviously by their music, their previous ep ” I:PRAEDICTVM” gave us an idea of what sound they were building,  hardcore with black metal played at the angriest and traditional way possible.

“II:MALEDICTVM” contains 9 new tracks written in the same line as the previous ep, but this time they got wrapped black metal and hardcore as one sound, seriously, a record you should hear. The band is offering free downloads of their new record, but remember to support independent artists by buying their merch and records.

Vulva – Krüppel

Bandcamp | Facebook | Tumblr

Vulva is a newest post-metal/sludge metal band from Hanover, Germany. Kruppel contains four tracks of atmospheric and heavy  sludge metal with strong influences of bands like Neurosis, Omega Massif, Amenra or Men In Search of The Perfect Weapon, creating not a new sound, but the way this guys are doing music its gonna wake the interest of many people,  a promising and young band you should get into.

You can listen the whole ep at bandcamp and read lyrics or more about the band at Vulva’s tumblr. Soon physical copies on cd/vinyl will be self-released. Recommended.

Tumbleweed Dealer – S/T

Bandcamp | Facebook | Pre-order

Tumbleweed Dealer is an interesting project from Montreal, Canada, created by only two musicians, Seb Painchaud (Guitars & Bass) and Felix Roberge (Drums), besides this two musicians there are more people involved on this first full length, such as music director, engineering and visuals.

These guys play some sort of psych rock/stoner/blues and drone, building a wall of sound on each song, it takes the listener with them on each droning riff with played and they keep coming riff after riff, at times reminds me to bands like Earth or Horseback, seriously an hypnotic record that needs to be more known. If you have headphones, i recommend you to use them whit this record.

Tumbleweed Dealer’s new and first full length is going to be released next month -September 18- via Mind Control Records (Germany) and  it can be pre-ordered now, as well the entire album is up on bandcamp for stream or can be purchased by 4.20 canadian dollars. Highly recommended.

MOTA, Black Sheep Wall, Locktender & More…

Mouth of The Architect – Dawning

After three years of inactivity MOTA is back and more than alive, they recently ended a tour of two months in support of their new record “Dawning”.

If you are MOTA’s fan or have heard at least an album, you know what quality of musicians are they, providing some of the most “epic” post-metal albums, now with “Dawning” its not the exception, once again they give us a masterpiece of album. Highly recommended.    Buy | Listen

Black Sheep Wall – It Begins Again

The blkackened sludge metallers from LA are back with a new ep titled “It Begins Again” , on this ep they bring three  tracks less brutalized, an organic sound and more accessible to the doom  crowd. The band is offering free downloads at Bandcamp, but don’t forget to get the limited LPBuy | Listen

Locktender – Kafka

First full length by Locktender, and for those who don’t know about this project, these people were known as Men As Trees, after years of hiatus they reformed the band and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio.. Their way of write music has change and every song and each album is the representation of an artist, this time was Franz Kafka’s “The Zürau Aphorisms.”. It can be downloaded for free at here, get a copy in Europe via I.Corrupt.Records, in America via Replenish Records or directly from the band. Recommended.

Wreck & Reference – No Content

Avant-Garde Metal, is what describes better Wreck & Reference, since their first record in 2011 they catch the attention of more people and one of them was from Flenser Records, the past year this record label signed thisa band and released a full length titled “No Youth”, after a year from that they are back with a 7″ that includes only two tracks, wish it had more tunes but its what it’s. On this record you’ll find a more noise effects, black metal, voice effects and drone. Words cam’t describe how this sound, so i suggest go to their bandcamp and listen the whole record or buy it directly from Flenser Records. They are on tour right now, so if you have a chance to see this performance live don’t miss it! check tour dates right here:    https://www.facebook.com/events/223042071178245/

Vows – Vows Ep

Recently  found about this band from New York, they play hardcore punk with metal and trash influences, doing of their tunes an addictive music you can’t stop listening. This ep is charged with anger and agressive riffs, just go to their bandcamp and listen the whole ep, Highly recommended.. Bandcamp | Facebook

Jungbluth – Part Ache

Bandcamp | Facebook

Jungbluth is a german hardcore band with members from Alpinist, last year in November was released their first ep, a self titled tape that was pressed two times and sold out both times, a chaotic and melodic hardcore with 90s vibes is what you get from those recordings.(http://jungbluth.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-tape)

On this month  they released their first full length  “Part Ache” which contains 9 tunes with the same intensity of their first record, breakdowns, blast beats and angry shouts makes this album definitely puts the band like the best hardcore band from Germany, at least for me. The lp can be bought in Europe via Vendetta Records, in America via Halo of Flies Records or directly from them on their European Tour:

The Disgrazia Legend – Redundance

The Disgrazia Legend resides in Milano, Italy, they were formed around 1997 as Onetruth, later in 2003 is when they change their name and to date they still do things under the diy ethics.

Last year they released an 11 track album, which was released on cd by their own label. ¨Redundance¨ its an experimental project with sounds  mixture like hardcore, post-hardcore, noise and punk. An album full of noise and melodic tunes driven by energetic drum beats, also you´ll find two interludes on this album. ¨Redundance¨ its the last full length released… on cd, upcoming records will be available on Vinyl and digital. After ten 10 years of existence the band continues playing solid and noisy tunes with influences from bands like Hot Snakes, Young Widows, Breach, Neurosis, Kiss It Goodbye, just to name a few and give you an idea of their not limited taste, they create music without tags or classifying what they do, they just simple do it. So if you´re looking for some post-whatever-noise, go to their bandcamp page, listen and then make them an offer or buy the cd for only €7. Recommended.

Huata / Bitcho split

Released by MusicFearSatan on March 22, it comes in clear purple with red and blue streaks with an amazing cover art done by Benjamin Moreau (HUATA).

The split starts with the side of Huata, a french band that have a few years in the doom scene but lately has been more known thanks to their first full length ¨Atavist of Mann¨ released over a year ago.  They contribute two new songs in the same line of occult stoner / doom metal with higher doses of  psychedelics, the band has gain skills to write more creative songs thanks to their live rituals. I´m thinking this is the best exposure of the band so far, if you believe Atavist of Mann was all they can give, that was only the beginning.

In the other side is Bitchot from the southern lowlands, a six-piece band that released their debut album ¨Toybox¨ 4 years ago and since then Bitcho haven´t do any new recordings. If you are new to this band, i´m pretty sure you’ll become a fan of them easily, Drone/Doom Metal very repetitive and loud with psychedelic sounds, voice effects included, all together sounds superb and they can be compared with bands like Cough or Windhand.

Props to the label for put this two bands in the same record and congrats to the bands.

Another bash of band requests

HANDLINGNOISE – S/T

HANDLINGNOISE was founded in Helsinki, Finland as an ambient/noise –project in 2007. It was started for a one-off performance at a club for experimental music. Shortly after the concert we were joined by a drummer, which opened up a load of new possibilities. Due to our different musical backgrounds and influences that range from minimal electronic music to metal our own style became very multifaceted.

We wanted to develop a distinctive sound also from the production point of view, so we started recording material on our own in 2008. In the beginning we did this at training spaces and summer cottages using our own and some borrowed equipment. As the project evolved and we realized that these recordings were growing into an album, we also went to record in a studio. We finished work on our debut album in the spring of 2012 and it was mastered by Harris Newman at Greymarket Mastering, Montreal, Canada.

Stellar Young-Everything At Once

People are going to download your music one way or another, so why not give them the highest quality download with the option to pay?” says Erik Flora (guitar/vocals). Erik goes on to explain that free downloads with the option to pay is the direction the music industry has headed. Bands such as Radiohead and Wilco have paved the road for this movement. “Since the digital release is basically free we wanted to add some value to the physical release” explains John Glenn. The physical release of Everything at Once contains musical interludes as well as a booklet with illustrations by Amanda Marie Eilis King (of AMEK Studios). “This album is more of a cohesive thought than what we’ve done in the past” says Dave Parker. “By using a centralized theme, we aimed to create an experience when you listen to the whole album front to back which has also been the movement in our live show.” The physical album will be released in early January, 2013.

Everything at Once was mostly tracked in the band’s apartment and produced by Dave Parker just like their last release Madison. However, this time the drums were recorded at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY and all of the tracks were mixed by Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner. Michael and Chris are known for producing bands like Straylight Run, Coheed and Cambria, The Sleeping, and many more. Stellar Young is a prime example of the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) band. Between independently releasing Everything at Once, successfully raising funds on Kickstarter for a mini shuttle bus, releasing/recording their sophomore album Madison, hard work and dedication would be the best way to describe their music.

Gummidge – Sick Again

Gummidge is an Irish three piece band formed by people from Trenches, Easpa Measa and Only Fumes and Corpses, this new project doesn’t sound like their past crusty/hardcore projects, they do a blend of post-punk similar to bands like  Shellac, Young Widows, Gods and Queens, etc. So if you’re seeking for something new in the genre, give a listen to this guys, recommended.

Early Mammal – Demon or Saint?

Early Mammal started on February 1st 2012 in an old butter factory in Camberwell, South London, called Dropout (London’s true home of sludge and noise). Formed by Rob Herian (ex-Elks http://www.heavyplanet.net/2011/10/new-band-to-burn-one-to-elks.html) on guitar and vocals, Ben Davies (ex-85 Bears) on drums, and with the prog-stylings of Turkish born Deniz Belendir on organ and synths, the band spent hours jamming heavy blues, space-rock and psyche with the likes of Captain Beefheart, High Rise, White Hills and Hawkwind on the brain, and in September 2012 finally finished recording their first album, Horror at Pleasure, which is looking for a 2013 release.
It’s head-down-rock; it’s fuzzed-out and heavy. But there’s also something wrong in the story. That’s what the last few months have created in Early Mammal and that’s what you get. That’s what we all get because there’s something not right about any of us, anywhere. All our stories are fucked. Early Mammal is coming from somewhere else. It’s expected and it’s telling you something.

Cold Blue Mountain – S/T

Cold Blue Mountain is a five piece band from Chico, California, their music is influenced by doom, sludge, post-metal. This debut full length delivers 9 tracks of down-tempo post-metal in the veins of MOTA, Omega Massif or earlier Amenra… help them to spread the word about their music, recommended.

QDRPD – Quadrupéde

QDRPD is a duo from Le Mans, West-side of France, they play ¨Intrumental rock¨ with electronic elements thrown in the mix. When i read about the electronic elements i thought it was going to be something way different, like some ambient/drone project but this has nothing to do with that, their music also incorporates math-rock, noise and indie elements. If you have been looking for something atypical that no one knows about, you should start listening this two piece band. Highly recommended.

Holy – The Age of Collapse

HOLY fuck, these italians are back with a new lp released through the german label Adagio 830. This is the follow up from their self-titled 12 inch released on Hell, Yes!… the result of  their fourteen new tracks is devastating, they continue in the same line of black hardcore/punk with hints of crust/powerviolence and political lyrics. If you are into Trash Talk, Punch or DNF, you should definetely give a listen to this band, highly recommended.

Revengeance – Complacent  Complacency

Revengeance is a five piece power-violence locomotive. Taking it’s first steps in 2011, and already with three releases under their belts, Revengeance took the punk scene by storm with its unique blend of 80´s hardcore, proto-grindcore and all the cult 90´s power-violence bands, and adding a sprinkle of “fuck off” attitude. In just one year they managed to play all the key Portuguese festivals and support slots for some overseas acts. Expect angry female/male vocals, fast drumming and loud guitars. The band is in its essence a tribute to power-violence. Give it a try or fuck off.

Romero – Take The Potion

Romero’s first full length has been released on January, thanks to a kickstar campaign the album will be released as vinyl. The cd version can be ordered from their bigcartel page as well as other merch. These folks keep  playing stoner metal full of fuzzy riffages and psychedelics passages, it’s not a total stoner metal record cause  they bring the darkness and heaviness of doom metal which gives to their sound another direction. If you roll into stoner metal or doom metal, Take The Potion is what you need nowadays, highly recommended.

I´m working on a huge band request post, is the easiest way to finish with all the requests. Have been listening most of the bands requests, some of them will appear soonish, some other not. Thanks for share your music with mvsicasheroin.

Painted Wolves – Unholy

Sweden | 2012 | Epidemic Records

1. Poisoned Words
2. Self-Appointed Prophets
3. In The Circle of Lies
4. In Urine

Painted Wolves released Unholy last year and thanks to a band request i found their music, the band features members from Death Is Not Glamorous, Anchor, Dead Vows, The Smackdown, 8 Days pf Nothing… you probably know about their side projects, the fact is that Painted Wolves is still unknown and obviously this need to be heard by more people. ¨Two words, four punks and too many amps to handle. Göteborg, jeansvests, powerstances and headbangs.Loud drums, distorted guitar, gnarly screams and a wall of bassguitar.  Why make things complicated, right?. It’s not an unfmailiar formula, but does every band have the genuinity?. Are we pretentious assholes? Possibly!¨ that short bio introduce me to this band and fuck it, it’s all you need to read about these guys. I’ll describe this as the child of Failures and Brainworms, highly recommended.

By the way, keep your eyes peeled cause they will be touring europe this summer with Comadre and Dangers. Get their music for free through bandcamp.

New records from Throatruiner

Throatruiner is a french record label very active, a proof of that is the four records coming out in the next months of bands like Primitive Man, The Phantom Carriage, Cortez and Vuyvr… blackened music to this dehumanized society.

So, i’m gonna start with the second album of  The Phantom Carriage, ¨Falls¨ contains 8 tracks, each one shaped with their own poison of dark hardcore and black metal, nothing new nowadays but these guys takes their music to the most extreme side of their sound.

¨”Falls” brings the band’s unique approach to the next level, invoking reminiscences of various acts such as Deathspell Omega, Cave In, Comity, Deafheaven or Kickback. Songs such as “Dreamers Will Never Stop Dreaming” or “Today We Stand” reveal how much the band has improved their songwriting abilities, burying the listener under piles of epic & technical riffs, labyrinthic structures and unearthly vocals. By throwing into their chaos some more unorthodox influences they gained from their other past and actual experiences, THE PHANTOM CARRIAGE prove that they are digging deeper than your average “blackened hardcore” band. And they will take you with them.¨

Bandcamp | Download

Trying to determine why Vuyvr’s debut album “Eiskalt” is a stimulating and refreshing take on black metal is not an easy task. Hailing from Switzerland, their sound initially appears to be rather traditional, obviously influenced by a number of Norwegian and Swedish meisters of the genre. Beneath an impeccable flow and as the record will start to grow on you, you’ll notice subtle, personal touches which contribute to a large extent to the record’s peculiar charm. There’s majestic breakdowns who are wonderful but not strictly metallic (“Betrayers Of The North”), stellar dual guitars equally breathing of heavy metal and post rock (“Dead Trees Will Wander At Night”). The vocals are crisp but not exaggerated, conveying immediacy. The primitive pounding of the drums resonates the naive fury of extreme metal’s early days… Devil is in the details indeed and apparently Vuyvr have inherited the unorthodox class that characterizes their country’s metal tradition (Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Samael, Coroner…). Having excelled in the ranks of seminal underground acts such as Knut, Impure Wilhelmina, Rorcal, Elizabeth, they are not preoccupied by what the purists will think of them. They are devoted to sonic darkness and it’s all that matters. Less than a year after their initial racket, the band rushed into their practice space and recorded 9 tracks within a day that would eventually become “Eiskalt”.

Bandcamp | Download

With this album Cortez is again proving that you can get out of the habitual pattern of power trio (guitar, drums and voice), and still burps noise-hardcore fury and incandescent anger. The band recently reorganized itself with the arrival of Antoine Tinguely on the guitar (ex-Berserk For Tea Time), Samuel Vaney, former guitarist, is now supporting the band as composer / mixer. Recorded partly in the REC Studio of Serge Morattel in Geneva, drums, and partly in their own rehearsal space, guitars and vocals, this new album is the result of hard work, giving the band big freedom in creation and the possibility to fully assume the production process. Complete independence in learning, creating and finalizing the record. “Phoebus” reaffirms the taste of Cortez for saturation, but also explores a wide range of possibilities. Like a threatening and corrosive mist the aggressive sound still remains intense, melancholic and emotional.

Bandcamp

Fronted by Ethan McCarthy of notable grind acts Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire and Death of Self, Denver, Colorado’s PRIMITIVE MAN play some sort of blackened sludge/doom with hints of drone and d-beat in the vein of bands such as The Body, Thou or Khanate. An earth-shattering, bleak wall of crushing dissonance and pure sonic heaviness : “Scorn” is only the band’s debut full-length, but it already sounds like one of the heaviest and most brutal records you’ll hear for a while. Thirty nine minutes of pure, unrelenting destruction that will leave you bruised and bleeding.

4. Forgotten Is What Never Was

Nonsun is two piece band from Lviv,Ukraine, they were formed around 2011. On december it was released their debut ep which contains four tracks in about 48 minutes. What you’ll find here is a doom metal infected by droning riffs that will make bleed your ears, tracks filled with feedbacks and bluesy riffs at some parts, all this things makes a solid demo, even if there’s a shitload of bands playing as dark as they can these guys have done something more than just play heavy, you need to listen carefully so you can discover hidden sounds. France | 2013 | Les Acteurs De L’ombre

Regarde Les Hommes Tomber comes from Nantes, France, their first lp will be released around march, meanwhile two songs are up on bandcamp and you can pre-order the record from LADLO. Searching for more information about these guys, found their name comes from a french film of 1994 ¨Regarde Les Hommes Tomber¨ (See How They Fall), anyway, don’t find information  about their previous/side projects, that its not of much importance and i know, just wondering who they are cause their skills to write music sounds like they have played for years on this project. Listening this two tracks makes me anxious to listen the complete album, this project creates music influenced by black metal, sludge metal and post-hardcore, played to the most dark and loud way possible. Keep an eye with this band, highly recommended.

6. + –
7. Sorting Rooms

Never heard about these guys before but once start listening ¨Places¨ i become a fan quickly, you just need 30 seconds to get into this band. They are a four piece band from Milwaukee, WI, their music is a mixture of post-hardcore and screamo influenced by math-rock and post-rock, something betwee Native, Caravels, Kidcrash and Animal Faces.

¨ A Beautiful production captures ALTA’s controlled chaos perfectly. Guitar tapping, massive riffs, ruthless times sigs, gang vocals, screamy vocals, soundscapes, vocals dripping with honestly and passion. You can visualise the band sweating in a small room giving it their all as you listen to this record. Its better to just listen to the record. YOU WILL LOVE IT. ALTA are not messing around. A total DIY punk rock ethic, This is post hardcore, post punk, post whatever – perfection! Honest music played how it should be. No posers here.¨

Blessings – Bittervatten

1. Bittervatten
2. Worms Of The Earth
3. Strings Of Red
4. The Shrine
5. Wormwood Litany
6. Seven Blessings
7. Licking The Hand That Bleeds

Blessings is a swedish power trio based in Gothenburg, formed in 2011 and featuring members of Anchor, Painted Wolves, Scraps Of Tape, Tsukimono and Fä among others. This is their first ep recorded and sounds insane, the tag hardcore/punk for this band  gives the idea of a music pattern, something you clearly note they don’t have. so lets say they play some kind of hardcore influenced by crust/doom/drone/shoegaze, the recordings are full of noise and feedbacks giving a darker sound.

Bittervaten was released on tape through their own label Dålig Stämning and Serene records, such tape is sold out but you can get this for the price you want on their bandcamp. A new 7″ of shorter material is in the works, as well as a longer 30+ min track which will be a separate release sometime in the fall of 2013

Pneumologic is the first album done by Ornaments, official released on February 5 Cd/Vinyl, meanwhile you can listen the whole thing at bandcamp. The new album contains 7 songs, to date i think this are their best recordings, i know each record used to sound different and with a variant of genres thrown in the mix, on this record they use the same skills to create ¨doomed post-rock¨…  doesn’t exist such genre but so far is the best way to describe their sound. Highly recommended.

12. Vigil
13. Moksha

Have been listening to this record a few times today and i totally get into this band, haven’t heard before them and the more i know about the band i ask myself why i never give them a listen… better late than ever. So, as some of you know they recently did a split with Republic of Dreams and they have been releasing records since 2010, to date some says this are their best recordings so far, i’m still curious to listen their past recordings, anyway, have been listening this record for almost four times.

The side A starts with a sampler and then a metal riff that turns into an insane grindcore slot intoxicated of d-beat and metal, least but not least are the vocals, she doesn’t follow any path, her vocals are clean sometimes, most time transmitting her angry feelings. That’s not all about this record, on side B they also throw to the mix some sludgy down-tempo riffages , along other sounds like hardcore or screamo; it’s interesting how each song has their own touch and makes this album different from others. ¨We aren’t afraid to experiment with new sounds and ideas, but not so much that we lose sight of what we are predominantly: punks playing really fast.”.

Cloud Rat is not the only three piece band, but these guys make a complete sound with one guitar, without bass, only drums played really heavy. The lp is already out and you can order your copy in America here: http://www.halooffliesrecords.com/  Europe:http://reactwithprotest.org/

1. Watermelon Hands
2. The Adjacent Possible
3. Vitamin F
4. Traumaturge
5. When the Fire Hits the Forest
6. Ataxia
7. Reassimilated

Fontanelle comes from Portland, Oregon and for what i’ve read they have years playing, the band was made by ex-members from Jessamine. Ten years later they come with a new album that’s titled ¨Vitamin F¨ released through Southern Lord, its strange to see a jazz band on this label but if they do it more often it would be awesome. The record starts with ¨Watermelon Hands¨, a deeply jazz sound that takes you from whatever you are doing and transport you to another space, once you listen the complete album you know this have some references to vintage sound, space and films. Kowloon Walled City – Container Ships

cover_2

Origin: United States

Year: 2012

Tracks: 7

Label: Brutal Panda Records

Well this record took me by surprise because i didn’t knew this band was going to drop a new album soon. Anyway, their new album its hard to tag, it doesn’t sound like something i’ve heard but it haves elements of sludge, noise and even post-rock on it, their music is mean to put the listener in the same place as bands like Neurosis or Cavity, making of their music landscapes in your mind, when you find this kind of records you gotta share it with more people.

¨Container Ships¨is definitely a record that could fight a place in the top list of the year, once you start listening you’ll understand why, words can´t describe the feeling of their music, just get into this gem. Highly recommended.

Origin: Belgium

Tracks: 3

Label: Highness Records

¨Your Highness hails from the ports of Antwerp. These regal Belgians emerged from a punk-hc scene with a huge DIY-spirit, which shaped the band’s character to what it is today. In 2009, they recorded a 3-song demo at Studio 195. One year later, they dropped a hammer called “Cults ‘n’ Cunts”, a full cd/lp recorded and mixed by Epic productions and mastered at New Alliance East. These royal tunes got released with the help of Hammerheart records and received great reviews all over the world. Testimony to this statement was the willingness of both Doomstar bookings and Ruffstuff bookings to work with the band. Your Highness played tons of shows in Belgium, UK, Netherlands, France and Spain with the likes of Acid King, Saviours, Fucked Up, Today is the day, Weedeater, Diablo Blvd, Drums are for Parades and many more … Just recently, Antwerps finest stonerband unleashed “Blue Devils”, their new EP, recorded once again with Epic productions and mastered at New Alliance East. Sea Bastard – Sea Bastard

cover

Origin: United Kingdom

Genre: Doom metal / Sludge

Label: Unsigned

From the cradle of doom comes Sea Bastard, this band was formed last year from the ashes of Jovian and Funeral Hag. They say their music is the mixture of both bands, but if you don’t know their past bands it doesn’t matter cause you don’t need to hear the full album to enjoy their groovy/bluesy sludgy doom metal, from the beginning you feel that heavyweight riff hitting your brain with their fuzzy vibes and the harsh vocals fits perfect, plus the drums is played precise and meaner, giving a more obscure sound, all in conjunct sounds great.

This is their first album recorded and features five songs passing the 10 minutes each, it never turns boring, if you really enjoy doom metal you’ll love this record. The self-titled album its up on bandcamp as free download, a physical release will be available soon, so it rest to say go to their bandcamp page and get this now while you can. Highly recommended.
