Dopelord – Black Arts, Riff Worship & Weed Cult

Bandcamp | Facebook

Altamente recomendado.

Huata / Bitcho split

Released by MusicFearSatan on March 22, it comes in clear purple with red and blue streaks with an amazing cover art done by Benjamin Moreau (HUATA).

The split starts with the side of Huata, a french band that have a few years in the doom scene but lately has been more known thanks to their first full length ¨Atavist of Mann¨ released over a year ago.  They contribute two new songs in the same line of occult stoner / doom metal with higher doses of  psychedelics, the band has gain skills to write more creative songs thanks to their live rituals. I´m thinking this is the best exposure of the band so far, if you believe Atavist of Mann was all they can give, that was only the beginning.

In the other side is Bitchot from the southern lowlands, a six-piece band that released their debut album ¨Toybox¨ 4 years ago and since then Bitcho haven´t do any new recordings. If you are new to this band, i´m pretty sure you’ll become a fan of them easily, Drone/Doom Metal very repetitive and loud with psychedelic sounds, voice effects included, all together sounds superb and they can be compared with bands like Cough or Windhand.

Props to the label for put this two bands in the same record and congrats to the bands.

Spelljammer – Vol.II

Origin: Sweden
Year: 2012
Genre: Stoner Doom
Label: Unsigned
Tracklist:
1.Aun’s Mountain
2.Electric Ground
3.Space Reefer
Spelljammer is a Swedish stoner doom band, they have been playing since 2007 and only two ep’s are recorded. I think “Vol.II” will catch the attention of more people, their debut ep sounds a bit different to this, they’ve added voice effects and they play more slowly and less stoner metal, going more into the stoner doom sound, a perfect record to burn one. Highly recommended.

Mountain Witch – S/T

Origin: Germany
Year: 2011
Genre: Stoner Doom | Psychedelic
Tracks: 5
Label: Droehnhaus
Buy: Here
To many bands have “Witch” or “Mountain” in their names, but what does the difference is the sound of each band, Mountain Witch comes from Hamburg, Germany and sounds like a band is getting pretty stoned and creating psyched jams. The band was created by René Sitte (guitar) and René Roggmann (drums, vocals) in 2008, then Tobert Knopp (bass) was added to the band, they say their is to create music that is rooted in stoned and doom music from the past and present with psychedelic elements, fuck, you want it more clear? just listen and smoke. Give a listen if you haven’t heard them. Highly Recommended

El Camino – ….De Nada

El Camino is a duo (Drum&Bass) hailing from Talavera de la Reina, Spain, it sounds like they have been smoking good dope. They are heavily influenced by Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Sleep, OM, Witchcraft, The Sword and a thousand bands more. A band you should give a listen.[Band Request]

Another great record released this year, i have much more newer stuff to post but sometimes it’s hard to keep posting when your work gets almost all your day time, anyway, for those who doesn’t know Elder yet, this is not the philly band. Elder is a three piece band from Boston, MA, they play a great style of Stoner Doom/Metal with the same feeling of the psychedelic bands from the 70’s… no doubt this is going to my top albums. This is much more from what i expected from these guys, after three years of silence they come back with a mature sound,10/10 for sure, Highly Recommended.

Atolah – Relics

Origin: Australia
Year: 2009
Genre: Sludge|Stoner Doom
Tracks: 5
Label: Unsigned
Buy: No Buy Option

“Atolah is a Psychedelic Doom trio from Perth, Australia. Influenced by Kyuss, Sleep and similar bands of the genre they deliver a great deal of pure heaviness.” Great ep from these stoned kangaroos, this ep and an apparition in Droning Earth vol.31 Compilation is all they have, i’m looking for more of them, if you like the bands mentioned above you should give this a try. Recommended.
