Alarmist – Pal Magnet EP

a1209190592_10

X Suns – The Greys

a1203020718_10

Duck, Little Brother, Duck! – No Spitting On Cats During Plague Time

QDRPD is a duo from Le Mans, West-side of France, they play ¨Intrumental rock¨ with electronic elements thrown in the mix. When i read about the electronic elements i thought it was going to be something way different, like some ambient/drone project but this has nothing to do with that, their music also incorporates math-rock, noise and indie elements. If you have been looking for something atypical that no one knows about, you should start listening this two piece band. Highly recommended.

5. Merry New Year
6. + –
7. Sorting Rooms

Never heard about these guys before but once start listening ¨Places¨ i become a fan quickly, you just need 30 seconds to get into this band. They are a four piece band from Milwaukee, WI, their music is a mixture of post-hardcore and screamo influenced by math-rock and post-rock, something betwee Native, Caravels, Kidcrash and Animal Faces.

¨ A Beautiful production captures ALTA’s controlled chaos perfectly. Guitar tapping, massive riffs, ruthless times sigs, gang vocals, screamy vocals, soundscapes, vocals dripping with honestly and passion. You can visualise the band sweating in a small room giving it their all as you listen to this record. Its better to just listen to the record. YOU WILL LOVE IT. ALTA are not messing around. A total DIY punk rock ethic, This is post hardcore, post punk, post whatever – perfection! Honest music played how it should be. No posers here.¨

Suffer Like G Did – Raspberry Ep

Origin: United Kingdom
Genre: Indie / Math-rock / Jazz
Label: Self-released
Found this gem some days ago, since then i’ve been listening constantly this three track ep.
SLGD are an instrumental four-piece based in Essex and London, that’s all i found about them, there´s not a biography or something, who cares… their music is all about.
What these guys manage to do is very technical, doing something between math-rock  and jazz,  also some elements of post-rock or indie, all combined sounds gorgeous. Once you hear this you can´t stop putting repeat. You can go to their bandcamp and stream or buy the digital version, there’s also a 10¨ vinyl edition. For fans of Fago.Sepia, Tenebre or Delta Sleep

Origin: United Kingdom
Year:2012
Genre:Indie / Math-rock / Post-rock
Tracks: 8

Long time ago i posted the demo from this band, it was some math-pop music but now this new ep sounds much better, their sound has been pulled pretty well, the right  doses of indie/math-rock, adding post-rock elements to the mix. Inuit contains four new tracks and also a remix of each song, so you have the band experimenting with their own music, how amazing is that?… give a listen, highly recommended.

Found this gem thanks to a band request, thanks for send us your stuff. This band will be of your interest if you are into emo/indie stuff, but their music don´t limit to only that genres, they add to their mix elements of math-rock/post-rock, twinkly music to your ears. ¨Old Songs¨ clocks around 17 minutes, the record is divided on three songs, this ep introduce you the music the band is doing, it´s only the beginning  of the band and i´m sure they´ll have a great response from the audience. Their next release will be a split with Send Away Strange through Carucage Records, so lets keep an eye with this band for future recordings, can´t wait to listen a full length from these guys. Highly recommended.

New album by Map & Atlases, obviously is less mathy but it haves the same good quality of each record released. People often have problems with bands new albums, don’t know why they don’t understand a band can’t be stuck in the same sound for years… i honestly loved “Trees, Swallows, Houses”, it was a sick record, but when “Perch Patchwork” was released and many people was saying it was nothing compared with their past works, ha. The point is that you are free to like or dislike a new album, yeah, but don’t even think a new output will be in the same sound for years. Anyway, this new album sounds pretty much more indie rock/pop, but it also has math-rock riffs here and there, just listen with attention. Highly recommended.

Something you miss from last year… Marathon is a five piece band from New Orleans, Louisiana. They play something between emo/indie/math-rock and even some post-rock hints, a good project you should listen, don’t know if they are still active or if they have something new to come, discover this at bandcamp and i’ve been listening for a couple of times now… recommended!

Colaars – Wood Arsenal

Origin: Ukraine
Year: 2012
Genre: Indie | Math-rock | Shoegaze
Tracks: 5
Label: Unsigned
Discovered this band recently, have put this ep more than two times this sunday,  i really get into it. Their music is experimental, they play danceable and catchy riffs all the time, at times it sounds more like dreamy post-rock meets shoegaze, but that’s just for a few seconds because math-rock have a place in their music. Give them a listen, get a break from all that downtuned and angry hardcore, depression it’s not a life style. Highly recommended.

Delta Sleep – Mega Hits Vol.1

Label: Box social records.

They fucking confuse me, don’t know if this has been recorded at 12′ or 85′, but i’m pretty you’ll like this 3 songs. For those who are unfamiliar with the band, Delta Sleep comes from Canterbury and they were formed around 08′, but at the end of 2010 it was released their debut ep by Box Social. Dude, these guys play interesting music, they have the perfect mix, math-rock/post-hardcore/emo and much more things you can define while you listen them, wish this is just a preview of what is coming because i want to hear more from these guys. Highly recommended.

Bearcubbin’! is a band from Portland, Oregon, they were formed in 2009 by Mike Byrne(Moses, Smell the Roses, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jewels & The Wallwalkers), Chris Scott(The Jezebel Spirit), James Crutcher(Moses, Smell the Roses, With Eyes Abstract)… no doubt these guys are good musicians. They first released “Live From The Bear Trap”, they used to do something more close to post-rock/math-rock but is definitely something you have to listen, then they did a split with Jewels & the Wallwalkers in 2010 and James left the band, a year later James joined the group again and recorded this new ep which sounds a bit different from what they did on the past,  this is what they say “We wanted to try writing something more in the vein of These Arms are Snakes and Young Widows and leave alot of the looping aside. It turned out amazingly well”. Enough words, get on this if you don’t know them, highly recommended.

Ok, so, time ago these guys make a request but thanks to my laziness, stress, work, smoke sessions, etc, i forget this and sorry for that guys. Dios Trio is a band from Westborough, MA formed by four dudes (originally they were three), they play math-rock with hints of post-rock and you can clearly hear some post-punk too, i honestly never heard before about them, and i’m glad they requested this because i would never find it just searching the term “Intesresting stuff” in Bandcamp, ha. So, go to their bandcamp and download their stuff before the free downloads ends… can’t think in similar bands, but give this a listen, highly recommended

Girl Scouts is a band coming from Glen Thrills, PA formed by three dudes, obviously they come from other bands, but the main thing is how this band sound, right?. To be honest, i’m getting a little bit bored from those bands who sound similar to algernon cadwallader, this town needs guns and all that bunch of bands where people take influences to make their own music, i’m cool with that, but sometimes it sounds like the copy of the copy…no offense. Girl Scouts is doing something pretty good, not unique, but i bet you gonna love this project, it sounds fresh and fun, i’ve been listening this 2 songs on repeat like 1 hour and i want more! ha, they will release something pretty soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that Ep 7″!. Fans of Hightide Motel, Algernon Cadwallader, midwest Pen Pals, etc. Highly Recommended!. [Band Request]

After a few days without posting, i come back with a request, this was not a band request, someone messaged me and invited me to take a listen, however, i’ve been listening these french dudes for a few days and i don’t know why i never heard before about this band. Fago.Sepia is for those trve math-rockers who aren’t looking for new bands who sounds like this town needs guns and all that bail [actually, i love that kind of bands], but Fago.Sepia have like a more mature sound, who cares anyway? Just give them a listen, really worth it. FFO Toe, Te’, Pele, etc.[Requested]

Well, now i’m back with their newest album!, sometimes getting off from a pc or internet you miss beautys like this, they released “Lustre”  some months ago via Tenzenmen Records from Australia. Man, what can i say about this record, on every record they create their jazzy lovely stuff, simple but at the time pretty well writed. Is great to see people progress in their music on each album and they keep like with the rest of us in the same scene and don’t think in major thinks… if you want to hear something different from what you always hear, i truly recommend this album. Valerian Swing hails from Correggio, Italy, they have been around since 2005…it’s a 3 piece band and they incorporate a variety of sounds, i haven’t describe their music yet. These lovely guys don’t follow a sound or a line or whatever you want to say, the other day i downloaded their old stuff and they used to sound more chaotic. In “A Sailor Lost Around The Earth” thay take their all the music they have been listening for years to create a master piece, they go from the deepest and saddest post-rock to the wildest math-rock you can imagine. I can’t describe very well this band, but i really recommend you this band…it was time to find something unique and fresh nowadays. You can stream the complete album at their bandcamp, support the band!. Also, this guys will tour europe in June, be smart and assit to their gigs, you can see more at our upcoming tours section. Rhodes is a 4 piece band from Liverpool, this past december they released their debut ep, containing 3 songs, instrumental songs, because they are actually looking for a vocalist, can’t wait for that. Rhodes sounds pretty fresh, not unique because i have heard more of this coming from UK but they have original rythms and sounds, you can hear the big influence from bands like Braid or Cap’n Jazz, but pulled under a twinklymathypost-hardcoremo sound, they remind me more to bands like Kidcrash, Tubelord, My Heart To Joy or even Algernon Cadwallader. I don’t found a live picture of the band, but i found a flyer from their upcoming gig with Jeniferever, shit i wish i could be there, but if you live near to their area, you should really assist. They do something pretty danceable and fresh, it sounds like uk indie mixed with math-rock/pop plus some post-rock elements, their songs are mostly instrumental but they throw some lovely sings here and there. This demo includes 2 live songs, it sounds like they are having fun in that gig. I can’t say “for fans of” in this case because this sounds pretty unique. Highly Recommended.
